What happens
Hardened plaque and tartar are removed from the teeth and under the gums with an ultrasonic or hand scaler.
The teeth are polished at the end. Done properly, it doesn’t harm the enamel.
Afterwards
Some cold sensitivity and slight gum bleeding for a few days is normal.
A sensitive toothpaste and a soft brush help.
Floss every night, before brushing.
